Brief History: The Statue of Unity is a colossal monument dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Known as the “Iron Man of India,” Patel was instrumental in the integration of over 500 princely states into the Indian Union post-independence. The statue, standing at an impressive 182 meters (597 feet), was unveiled on October 31, 2018, to commemorate his 143rd birth anniversary. It symbolizes Patel’s vision of a united India and is a tribute to his contributions to the nation.

About the Place: Located in the Narmada district of Gujarat, near the town of Kevadia, the Statue of Unity is situated on a river island facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The statue and its surrounding attractions form a part of the larger Sardar Patel Rastriya Ekta Trust (SPRET) initiative, aimed at promoting tourism and development in the region.

Viewing Gallery: The Viewing Gallery, located at a height of 153 meters within the Statue Of Unity, offers a spectacular view of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges, and the expansive Garudeshwar Reservoir. The gallery can accommodate up to 200 visitors at a time, providing an unparalleled panoramic experience.
